About The Second Chapter
The Second Chapter is an independent publication for women between 40 and 60 who are dating again, after a divorce, after losing a husband, or after years of putting love on the back burner.
Why we started
Look for dating advice for women our age and you'll mostly find two things. Jokes, often at our expense. Or tactics: make him chase, make him miss you, make him obsessed. We think a grown woman deserves better than tricks. She deserves clear information and a calm voice.
So that's what we publish. Pieces that start with a straight answer, lean on published research, link the studies so you can read them yourself, and treat men with the same respect we'd want for ourselves.
Who writes it
The Second Chapter is written and edited by a small team we simply call The Second Chapter team. We are not therapists, doctors or lawyers, and we will never pretend to be. Nothing here is therapy or professional advice. When a topic calls for a professional, we say so.
Our editorial standards
- Every factual claim needs a source. We cite peer-reviewed studies and official sources such as the Pew Research Center and the Federal Trade Commission, and we link them.
- No invented numbers, quotes or case studies. When we use an example, we label it as an illustration.
- No manipulation. We don't teach games, and we don't publish sexual how-to content.
- No male-bashing. Most men are not villains, and pretending otherwise doesn't help anyone find a good one.
- We correct mistakes. If you find one, write to us.
What's coming
Alongside the articles and our free attachment-style quiz, we're making companion videos and a few short ebooks. If we ever earn money from a product we recommend, we'll tell you plainly, as explained in our affiliate disclosure.
